We are seeking a hybrid engineer, problem solver, and customer advocate to join as a Founding Forward Deployed Engineer. This is a high-impact, foundational role where you will be the primary technical bridge between our most strategic customers and our core engineering team. As a “founding” member of this function, you will also play a key role in defining this team’s culture, processes, and helping us hire an excellent, world-class FDE team in the future.
Our vision is to build a platform that allows customers to gather, secure, and contextualize all their SDLC data, empowering them to make informed decisions. Your job is to make this vision a reality in their environment, often working with Fortune 500 companies, financial services, governmental organizations, and other highly regulated industries.
This is not a traditional Solutions Architect role. You are a hands-on engineer, first and foremost. Your time will be a dynamic split between deep customer-facing work and core platform engineering. We expect you to code almost every day—whether it’s building a rapid Proof of Concept (POC) to demonstrate a solution, helping a customer with a complex integration, or committing production-grade Go code to our core product.
You are our strategic early warning system. By deeply understanding our customers, you will stay one step ahead, identifying their needs and potential blockers before they even surface. You will be responsible for conveying this critical feedback to the core team, ensuring it is understood, and actively contributing to shaping our product roadmap.
What We’re Looking For
- Senior-Level Customer-Facing Engineer: 5+ years of experience as a Senior/Staff Engineer or Architect, with proven success leading technical discussions and solving problems for large enterprise customers (e.g., Fortune 500, finance, gov).
- Hands-On Coding Proficiency: Proven ability to rapidly build POCs, implement complex customer integrations, and graduate them into our core production codebase. Practical experience with Go is a plus.
- Cloud-Native & SDLC Expertise: Deep understanding of the modern software supply chain, including CI/CD, Kubernetes, GitOps, and observability.
- High-Impact Communicator: Exceptional, adaptable communication skills (both sync and async) with professional English fluency. You must be resilient and calm under pressure.
- Security & Open Source Mindset: A genuine interest in software supply chain security. Demonstrable contributions to open-source projects are a significant plus.
Dos (The Actions We Expect)
- DO be a hands-on builder. Code daily, shipping both quick POCs and robust, production-grade features in our Go codebase. Your first instinct should be the IDE, not PowerPoint.
- DO be a proactive partner. Anticipate customer needs before they surface. Understand the “why” behind every ticket to identify patterns and shape our product roadmap.
- DO prioritize customer value over technical purity. Be pragmatic and empathetic. Meet customers where they are (even in legacy systems) and deliver a solution that works for them.
- DO be highly adaptable and own the problem. Your focus will shift daily. Embrace collective ownership, be flexible with your schedule to serve global customers, and contribute where the team needs you most.
- DO master high-bandwidth communication. You are the bridge. Translate vague customer needs into clear technical requirements, and be comfortable with both synchronous (live debugging) and asynchronous (internal) communication.
- DO raise the bar. Be an expert in our product and its security principles. Actively help us build an exceptional team by identifying and attracting top talent.
Key Attributes for Success
To succeed in this role, you should embody the following traits:
- Technical Excellence: Hybrid engineer skilled in Go, cloud-native tech, and rapid prototyping to solve complex customer integrations.
- Bridge between Customers & Eng Team: Masterfully balances high-empathy customer sync calls with high-clarity internal async-first engineering work for impact.
- Multiplier of Customer Value: Actively scales impact by educating customers and teammates through documentation, demos, and mentorship.
- Proactive & Strategic: Acts as an “early warning system,” finding patterns in customer needs to proactively shape the product roadmap to combine quick wins with customers and strategic product value.
- High-Growth & Collaborative: A pragmatic team player with a learning mindset who remains calm and resilient under pressure, turning frustration into solutions.
- Extreme Ownership & Bias for Action: Feels total and collective responsibility for the customer’s success; is highly adaptable and proactively fixes any problems.
Why You’ll Love Working With Us
- Foundational Impact: Be one of the very first engineers, directly shaping the product, technology, and culture of an early-stage company. Your work will be critical to our success.
- Mission-Driven Work: Contribute directly to our mission: helping companies build and ship trusted software faster.
- Cutting-Edge Technology: Work with modern technologies like Go, Kubernetes, cloud-native tools, and explore applications of AI. You’ll be at the forefront of innovation in the DevSecOps space.
- Remote-First: We are a distributed team, offering you the flexibility to work from anywhere.
- Competitive Salary, Equity, and Benefits: We offer a competitive compensation package, including meaningful equity.
